The Boats of Marseille
I sat on the docks of Marseille and painted.
The old fishermen came by and checked out the drawing. The sun was hot. To paint on location is one of the best things an artist can do. You are surrounded by the sights and smells and sounds of life. Your painting comes alive.
Painting from a photograph can never achieve that.
